The Future of the Internet
by Marcus P. Zillman, M.S., A.M.H.A.

I am asked this question numerous times daily and especially after giving one of my keynote addresses to national associations and private corporations. Now that the Internet has matured passed a fad and is solidly entrenched into the corporate/enterprise psyche, questions are constantly being asked about its future. This column is limited to 500 words or so therefore I will be brief with my overview and selective with the URLs.
The future of the Internet will include words and phrases like the following: a) HTML5, b) IPv6, c) Semantic Web, d) Deep Web, e) Cloud Computing, f) Grid Computing, g) Distributed Computing, h) Web 3.0+ , and i) many many more. These resources will literally change the web including search and social networks from what they are today to new and far more efficient and
user friendly aspects with very heavy emphasis on mobile applications that can be accessed by smart phones and tablets. In the very near future I plan to do single articles on all of the above items to show how their utilization will literally change the face of the Web. In fact we are already seeing some very basic utilization of HTML5 by application developers to stay ahead of the future curve.
Examples are numerous but one that hits home to every smart phone and tablet user is being created by the Virtual Private Library (http://VirtualPrivateLibrary.us/) . The goal is to place a complete reference library in an application for the smart phone and tablet and it will be updated constantly by the Virtual Private Library's Subject Tracer™ bots. These bots will be constantly scouring the Internet as well as the Deep Web (http://DeepWeb.us/) to make available to the VPL Reference Library the latest reference resources available! An example of this that has been made available is called the eReference Library Link Toolkit whose address is:
http://www.ereferencelibrary.com/. Download this freely available .pdf toolkit today and imagine it being place on your smart phone, tablet or even laptop. You now have access to all the competent and latest reference links available and will be constantly updated as an application. Of course there is more than just reference, there will be 51 other Subject Tracers covering everything from astronomy to business intelligence. What great tools to have at your fingertips from your smart phone or tablet!!
Now you can see why I am so excited about the future of the Internet as I created the Virtual Private Library some ten years ago knowing that the future beholds absolutely fantastic information creation and content dissemination. The future of the Internet will also affect everyone reading this article by allowing you to have immediate access and collaboration with all your associates, partners and clients using the latest applications in mind mapping to generate new ideas to discovering new knowledge by monitoring the latest citations from articles of interest available from selected Subject Tracers. Truly exciting times await us!
